TEIGNMOUTH - Main Beach
A long sand and shingle beach with all the facilities you would expect from a well known and popular, beach resort town. Separated into North and South beaches by the pier and with a grassed area "The Green" running almost the full length behind the beach with many attractions. The shops and town are within two minutes walking distance from the beach. Quality Coast Award 2010.

ODDICOMBE BEACH - TORQUAY
A Blue Flag, sand and shingle promenaded "cove" type beach at the bottom of steep, red sandstone cliffs, with a cliff railway operating from Babbacombe Downs, down to the beach. There is a steep alpine type road and footpath, but the access is not easy.
Oddicombe beach suffers from severe coastal erosion due to the sandstone cliffs. So care must be taken at the far end of the beach.

BABBACOMBE BEACH - TORQUAY
Babbacombe beach is a small shingle beach with a level promenade at the bottom of a very steep hill, which passes down the cliffs of Babbacombe Downs. The beach is popular with locals and holidaymakers alike and is well known for it's rockpooling, cliff walks and diving . There is a small breakwater at the car park end, often used by fishermen.
Access to Oddicombe beach is by a path at the bottom of the cliffs.

TORRE ABBEY SANDS - TORQUAY
The main beach on Torbay's English Riviera is mainly sand, with a promenade and a small rocky area at the Princess Theatre end. This beach gets very busy and is used by locals and holidaymakers alike due to it's close proximity to the town. The beach is easily accessed by disabled people and is a true family beach. You will find coming off the beach there are wide pavements and a very busy main road, which after crossing over, leads to a large grassed area known as Torre Abbey Meadow and on to the Leisure Centre and the town.

LIVERMEAD BEACH - TORQUAY
Livermead beach runs parallel to Torquay seafront where Preston enters into Torquay and is surrounded by large hotels.
This beach is a designated water skiing area and is used by water sports enthusiasts.
The only access onto the beach is steep steps from the road.
There are no facilities and no car parking in the area.
Dogs are allowed.

HOLLACOMBE BEACH - TORQUAY
Hollacombe is a secluded and sheltered sandy beach with rocky cliffs right in the centre of Torbay. Known locally as a real suntrap and ideal for rockpooling at low tide. The beach is accessed by a short walk through Hollacombe Gardens and through a tunnel under the Torquay to Paignton railway line.

PRESTON SANDS
A popular beach for families with brightly painted beach huts on a promenade. A sandy beach with rock pools and a large grassed area "Preston Green" behind the beach complete with a childrens play park and plenty of room for picnics and play.

Paignton has a long curved promenaded, sandy beach with the pier almost in the middle. The shallow water here is ideal for swimming and paddling.
Paignton green, a 100m wide grassed area behind the beach, runs almost it's full length and hosts many events and attractions through the year.
The town of Paignton is approximately a 3 minute walk from the beach, with everything you would expect from a seaside resort.
Wooden huts on the beach supply beverages, food and ice cream etc. The pier also has many attractions, from the latest games machines to crazy golf.
Boat and fishing trips are available at Paignton Harbour at the southern end of the beach

GOODRINGTON SANDS
Goodrington ia another promenaded beach, lined with beach huts. Much favoured with locals and holidaymakers, Goodrington has a lot to offer. Mainly sandy with excellent rockpooling at low tide. The beach is split into two separate beaches at high tide by a small manmade headland with pubs and restaurants. There is a large grassed area behind the beach which leads onto several attractions, including Splashdown (formerly Quaywest).
At the rear of the beach is the Paignton to Kingswear/Dartmouth steam railway with steam trains passing frequently.

Churston is a lovely secluded shingle beach surrounded by cliffs and woods and is accessed by a steep path.
This cove has no facilities or public toilets.

A beautiful, very secluded sand and shingle beach between Brixham and Kingswear.
The beach is accessed by a long track from Hillhead.

Blackpool Sands is a privately managed, crescent shaped shingle beach with good swimming and facilities. Situated 4 miles from Dartmouth between the villages of Stoke Fleming and Strete. A very popular beach with both locals and holidaymakers the beach is surrounded with trees forming a picturesque backdrop.

SLAPTON SANDS
Slapton Sands, a 2 mile long, at times a steep pebbly beach, found halfway between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, with Strete Gate at one end, the village of Slapton in the middle and the village of Torcross at the other.
Well known throughout the world as the practice area for World War 2 D Day landings, complete with the American War Memorial halfway along the beach at the Middle car park, and a real Sherman Tank, now on display at Torcross, which was recovered from Start Bay by local hotelier Ken Small 40 years after being lost during the ill fated Exercise Tiger in 1944.
An area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB)
Slapton has a main road running along the crest of the beach and down the other side is Slapton Ley, a world renowned fresh water nature reserve teeming with wildlife, some of which is considered endangered. The Ley is also the largest fresh water lake in South West England.
Slapton has also suffered from severe winter storms over the years, which caused considerable damage to the road (now repaired) and to Torcross.
The village of Slapton is approximately 1/2 mile from the beach and has 2 pubs and a shop.

The village is at one end of the beach with a sea defence promenade. Beesands is found on the road to Start Point, approximately 4 miles from Stokenham through the village of Beeson.

MILLBAY - EAST PORTLEMOUTH
Millbay at the end of the lane from E Portlemouth is a sandy, clean and safe, bucket and spade type beach with excellent rockpooling at low tide. In an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB), Millbay is directly across the estuary from the town of Salcombe.

Car access is difficult to the beach because of a narrow lane which gets very busy during the Summer Season.
It is easier to park in Salcombe and cross the estuary on the E Portlemouth/Salcombe passenger ferry which leaves from Jubilee Pier and Whitestrand Pontoon.

Car access is difficult to the beach because of a narrow lane which gets very busy during the Summer Season.
It is easier to park in Salcombe and cross the estuary on the E Portlemouth/Salcombe passenger ferry which leaves from Jubilee Pier and Whitestrand Pontoon.
EAST PORTLEMOUTH
E. Portlemouth beach, at the bottom of the village is once again a sandy, clean and safe, bucket and spade type beach.

NORTH SANDS - SALCOMBE
North Sands is a promenaded crescent shaped sandy beach which is enormous at low tide and almost submerged at high tide. Used by locals and holidaymakers alike and is excellent for sandcastles and safe swimming. The beach is a 10 minute walk from Salcombe along Cliff Road.

SOUTH SANDS - SALCOMBE
South Sands is a lovely sandy beach very similar to North Sands and once again ideal for swimming and building sandcastles. A sheltered beach with a regular ferryboat service to Salcombe's Whitestrand Pontoon. South sands has it's own "sea tractor" for loading ferry passengers at high tide. South Sands is a further 10 minute walk from North Sands.

HOPE COVE BEACH - KINGSBRIDGE
The village of Hope Cove is literally built on the edge of two beaches, one in Inner Hope and other in Outer Hope, both beaches have fine sand, ideal for families and bucket and spades. The smaller beach at Inner Hope is in a small cove with steep access from the village centre. The larger beach is just a short walk from the centre and has easy access and a breakwater to one side.

THURLESTONE SANDS - KINGSBRIDGE
Thurlestone Beach is another very popular beach for families. Owned by the National Trust this sandy beach is excellent for rockpooling. The beach also overlooks the famous Thurlestone Rock, painted by Turner and best seen at high tide.

BANTHAM BEACH - KINGSBRIDGE
Bantham is a very popular, fine sandy beach with grass covered sand dunes just across the mouth of the River Avon from Bigbury on Sea. A beach well used by locals and holidaymakers alike with safe swimming and excellent rockpooling.
Bantham is one of the best surfing beaches in the UK.

BIGBURY ON SEA - KINGSBRIDGE
After passing Bigbury Golf Club, the view of Burgh Island and Bigbury on Sea beach from the top of the hill as you drop down to the village is absolutely stunning. This perfect for sandcastles sandy beach almost disappears at high tide as the water covers the causeway across to Burgh Island. As the tide recedes it exposes vast areas of sand and so provides plenty of room on the beach. Bigbury is ideal for families and rockpooling.
